Terms and conditions
These terms and conditions apply when you book Mr Retic for reticulation repairs, retic servicing, reticulation installations, controller work, turf installation, leak allowance work or any other services provided by us.
By confirming your booking, accepting a quote, paying a deposit or allowing us to attend your property to carry out work, you agree to our pricing, payment terms and service terms outlined on the pages on our website.
Pricing and payment terms
For reticulation repairs and service work, we charge based on the time spent on site, parts used and any additional materials required to complete the job.
Repair and fault-finding work is not usually quoted as a fixed price before attending, as reticulation issues often need to be investigated on site. Hidden leaks, wiring faults, solenoid issues, pressure problems and underground pipe damage can vary from job to job.
If you have a budget you would like us to work within, please let us know before we begin. If we are getting close to that amount and further work is required, we can stop, explain what we have found and discuss the next step.
Payment is due within 7 days of Invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Late payments will attract a late fee.
For quoted installation work, including new reticulation systems and turf installations, a 50% deposit is required before materials, trades or turf delivery are booked. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of the completed installation, unless otherwise stated on your quote or invoice.
All reticulation parts and materials remain the property of Mr Retic until the invoice has been paid in full.
Quotes and estimates
Any quote or estimate we provide is based on the information available at the time. This may include photos, measurements, site details, plans, access information and information provided by the customer.
If we attend site and find that the job is different from what was described, or extra work, parts or labour are required, we will let you know as soon as practical. Additional work may incur additional charges.
Quotes are valid for the period stated on the quote. If no expiry date is listed, please contact us to confirm current pricing and availability.
Booking confirmation
Your booking is not confirmed until we have agreed on a date and arrival window.
For most jobs, we provide a 2-hour arrival window. We do our best to arrive within this window, but reticulation work can sometimes take longer than expected. If we are running late or need to reschedule due to weather, supplier delays, emergency repairs or another unavoidable issue, we will let you know as soon as possible.
By confirming your booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted our pricing and terms.
Access to the property
Please make sure we have safe and clear access to the areas where work is required. This includes access to the retic controller, water meter, garden beds, lawn areas, side gates and any areas where reticulation pipes, sprinklers or solenoids may be located.
If you will not be home, please ensure any gates are unlocked, pets are secured and we have clear instructions for accessing the property.
If we arrive and cannot access the property or carry out the work as booked, a call-out or minimum labour charge may still apply.
Underground services
For reticulation installation and trenching work, please let us know about any known underground services before work begins. This includes electrical cables, plumbing, gas, drainage, pool pipes, internet cables, lighting cables or any other services that may be hidden underground.
While we take care when working, Mr Retic is not responsible for damage to underground services that were not disclosed, incorrectly marked or not shown accurately in available plans.
Reticulation repairs and servicing
When carrying out reticulation repairs or servicing, we will assess the system and repair what is practical within the time available and the budget discussed.
Some reticulation issues may require further investigation, especially if the fault is underground, intermittent, wiring-related or caused by an older system. We will explain what we find and recommend the most practical next step.
It is the customer’s responsibility to check the reticulation system after repairs or servicing to ensure it is watering the lawn and garden as expected. Reticulation systems should be checked regularly, as sprinklers, nozzles and pipes can become blocked, damaged or moved over time.
Controllers and programming
We can install, replace and program retic controllers. Where possible, we will set your controller to suit your watering days and current requirements.
It is the customer’s responsibility to check the controller and watering schedule after programming, especially after power outages, seasonal changes, Water Corporation watering roster changes or new lawn installations.
Turf installation
For turf installations, the customer is responsible for choosing a turf variety suited to their property, shade levels, usage and maintenance preferences.
Unless otherwise stated in the quote, the customer is responsible for preparing the area before turf is laid. This may include removing old lawn, sand, rubble, weeds and debris, and ensuring the area is ready for lawn mix and turf installation.
Fresh turf is a living product and must be watered and cared for correctly after installation. Once the turf has been laid, ongoing watering, mowing, fertilising, weeding and lawn care are the customer’s responsibility.
We will provide care guidance, but we are not responsible for turf decline caused by lack of water, overwatering, poor ongoing maintenance, pets, pests, disease, third-party damage, heat stress, shade issues or reticulation faults outside the work we completed.
New lawn watering
For new lawn installations, we may assist by setting the retic controller to a new lawn watering schedule.
It is still the customer’s responsibility to check that the reticulation system is working properly and that the new lawn is receiving enough water while it establishes.
The first stage after turf installation is especially important. Please check your new lawn regularly and contact us quickly if you notice dry patches, watering issues or concerns with the reticulation system.
It is the customers responsibility to change the watering times and run times to keep in line with the watering exemption.
Leak allowance work
Where eligible, we can assist with irrigation leak allowance requirements for Water Corporation.
A leak allowance is assessed by Water Corporation and is not guaranteed by Mr Retic. We can repair the reticulation issue and provide relevant information where required, but Water Corporation makes the final decision on any account adjustment or credit.
Leak allowance work does not remove the customer’s responsibility to pay Mr Retic for repair work completed.
Warranty
We stand by our workmanship and the quality parts we use.
Warranty terms are generally 12 months from install date but may vary depending on the product, part or service provided. Manufacturer warranties may apply to some products, including controllers and other reticulation parts.
Our warranty does not cover damage or issues caused by third parties, existing faults outside the area we worked on, parts we did not supply, poor water quality, sand or debris in the system, blocked nozzles, lawn or garden growth, pets, mowing damage, accidental damage, weather events, power issues or changes made by another person after we leave site.
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Invoices and overdue payments
Invoices are due according to the payment terms listed on the invoice.
If payment is overdue, we may send reminders by text, email or phone. If an invoice remains unpaid, we may pause future work, decline further bookings, or take steps to recover the outstanding amount. If invoices are paid late and we need to chase up then late fees may apply.
Any costs associated with debt recovery may be added to the overdue amount where legally permitted.
Cancellations and rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, please let us know as soon as possible.
We understand that things happen, but late cancellations, missed appointments or lack of access to the property can affect our schedule and other customers.
If we attend your property and cannot access the area or complete the work due to circumstances outside our control, a call-out or minimum labour charge may apply.
